Joining the Field: Your Journey with the Cranwell Bloodhounds

There is nothing quite like the shared camaraderie of a crisp morning in the countryside. Whether you are a seasoned foxhunter transitioning to bloodhounds or a newcomer eager to experience the thrill of the "clean boot," the Cranwell Bloodhounds welcome you to join our tradition.

To ensure that every rider, horse, and hound enjoys a day that is as safe as it is exhilarating, we have refined our registration process. Please follow the steps below to secure your place in the field and prepare for an unforgettable day of sport.

Step 1: Request Your Welcome Pack

Your journey begins with a simple introduction. Before you saddle up for your first outing with us, please reach out to our secretary via email at bookings.cbh@gmail.com.

Upon your request, we will provide you with our official Rider Disclaimer and our comprehensive "Guide to Hunting." This guide is an essential resource, curated to help you navigate the etiquette of the field—from understanding the "rules of the road" to ensuring your turnout is impeccable.

We believe that preparation is the key to confidence, and our guide ensures you arrive ready to ride.

Step 2: Secure Your Unique Disclaimer Number

Once you have reviewed the documents, please return your completed disclaimer form to us. Upon processing, you will be issued a Unique Disclaimer Number.

Think of this as your permanent passport to the Cranwell Bloodhounds. This number is yours to keep and serves as a streamlined way to identify you for all future outings. By maintaining this system, we reduce morning paperwork at the meet, allowing more time for stirrup cups and socialising before we move off.

Step 3: Settling Your Cap

We strive to keep our hunt accessible and flexible, offering two convenient ways to settle your "cap" (registration fee):

  • Electronic Bank Transfer: For those who prefer to settle their accounts in advance, bank details will be provided immediately upon your registration. This is our preferred method as it allows for a contactless and swift check-in on the morning of the hunt.

  • Payment on the Day: We understand that plans can change. If you prefer to pay at the meet, we are happy to accommodate you.

A Note for On-the-Day Payments: To assist our Hunt Secretary in the busy moments before the hounds are cast, we kindly ask that all payments be placed in a sealed envelope. On the front of the envelope, please clearly write:

  1. Your Full Name

  2. Your Unique Disclaimer Number

The Spirit of the Field

At Cranwell, we pride ourselves on a welcoming atmosphere. We hunt for the love of the horse, the brilliance of the hounds, and the respect for the land we are privileged to cross. By completing these steps, you help us maintain the high standards of safety and organisation that make our meets a highlight of the equestrian calendar.

We are currently preparing our lines and checking the coverts in anticipation of a spectacular season. We cannot wait to see you mounted, masked in the mist of a fresh morning, and ready to gallop.

We look forward to seeing you in the field!
